About Animal Welfare League of SA
In 2014 the Animal Welfare League of SA Inc (AWL) celebrates 50 years of tireless work by dedicated staff and volunteers who are devoted to the care and welfare of lost and abandoned companion animals.
Today, the AWL continues to operate a very busy schedule, looking after stray and abandoned dogs and cats without government funding.
The AWL’s key roles in the care of companion animals include:
1. Caring for lost and abandoned dogs and cats
2. Behavioural assessments and health checks for dogs and cats;
3. Re-homing lost and abandoned dogs and cats;
4. Managing impounded dogs on behalf of Local Councils;
5. Dog and Cat boarding;
6. Pet Cremations;
7. Grooming services;
8. Professional dog training classes;
9. Fundraising and Thrift Shops
All dogs and cats available for adoption from the AWL are temperament and behaviour assessed, vet checked, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and micro-chipped.
